Among the animals that can be observed in the reserve are several bird species.
Birdwatchers will be thrilled to discover that the reserve is a migratory stopover for numerous species of water birds, such as mallards, pochards and kingfishers. The wetlands also offer refuge to numerous species of ducks, cormorants and herons, which can be spotted throughout the year.
But birds are not the only protagonists of the reserve. Here you can also encounter fascinating mammals, such as badgers, hedgehogs, weasels and foxes. Among the rarer species is the dormouse, a nocturnal rodent that lives in trees. You might even be lucky enough to spot a European lynx or a deer venturing out of the forest.
The preservation of this precious ecosystem is a priority for us. The reserve offers walking and cycling routes that allow visitors to explore the area in a sustainable way, without disturbing the animals and the surrounding nature. We also have environmental education activities and volunteer programmes to involve the local community in the protection and conservation of the area.
